Take a look at the trailer for The Final Girls, an upcoming horror-comedy that tells of a group of friends that get more than they bargained for at a horror screening.
The film tells of Max (Taissa Farmiga) and her friends, who attend an anniversary screening of Camp Bloodmother, an 80s horror film starring Max’s late mother (Malin Akerman). Before you know it, they’ve been transported into the film itself, putting them on a mission to stay alive until the film’s end.
This actually looks great. The wink-wink humour is infectious, at least from the trailer, and the play on horror tropes could provide the genre’s aficionados with more than a few laughs. Early word is positive with this one, so here’s hoping for a horror twist in the smart vein of Drew Goddard’s The Cabin in the Woods.
Directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson, whose previous feature was the comedy threequel A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas.
The Final Girls, also starring Adam DeVine, Thomas Middleditch, Alia Shawkat, Alexander Ludwig and Nina Dobrev, will be hitting select U.S. cinemas and iTunes on October 9.
