The first official trailer for the highly anticipated adaptation of James Dashner’s The Maze Runner has finally been released! This gives those who haven’t read the YA novel (I highly recommend you do!) their first look at this dystopian world, starring Dylan O’Brien (The Internship, Teen Wolf, The First Time) as Thomas.
The film centers on Thomas, a young man who finds himself thrown into a new world, with dozens of other boys. The place they live is The Glade, and it’s surrounded by a maze that they spend their days trying to find a way out of. By night, strange monsters called Grievers torment them; a horrifying combination of weaponry and animal that ensure no one in the maze after dark survives. The Glade is rocked when the first girl, played by Kaya Scodelario (Clash of the Titans, Moon, Skins), enters their world. What is she doing there? How does she know Thomas? Who put them in the maze, and how will they get out?
Director Wes Ball will answer all of the questions this tantalising new trailer brings to mind, in Australia on September 18 and in the States on September 19. The Maze Runner, a Twentieth Century Fox production, also co-stars Will Poulter (We’re the Millers, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader) and Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Love Actually, Nanny McPhee).
