‘The Flash’: Epic New Trailer Shows Off Michael Keaton’s Return as Batman

Warner Bros.

The big official trailer has arrived for the long, long, long awaited DC film that is The Flash.

Ezra Miller is back as DC Comics character Barry Allen, aka The Flash, in this epic story finds the speedster travelling back in time in order to stop the murder of his mother. Of course, the consequences of Barry’s actions extend way past the Allen family. He inadvertently alters the future, leaving him trapped in a reality in which General Zod (Michael Shannon, returning as the villain Superman faced in 2013’s Man of Steel) has returned, threatening annihilation. And worse still, there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman (Michael Keaton, reprising the role) out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?

The exciting trailer below was released during the Super Bowl. Not only does it unveil a good look at Keaton’s return as Batman, it also features a look at Shannon’s return as Zod, Ben Affleck‘s return as Bruce Wayne, and Sasha Calle’s debut as Supergirl. There’s a lot to take in!

The film is directed by Andy Muschietti, who helmed both It films, and is written by Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey, Bumblebee).

The Flash, also starring Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons, and Antje Traue, will finally be hitting Australian cinemas on June 15th and U.S. cinemas on June 16th.
