Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for The Four Seasons, an eight-episode comedy series starring Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Will Forte, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Colman Domingo, and Marco Calvani. The upcoming series, created by Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield, reimagines Alan Alda’s 1981 romantic comedy for a new audience. Trailer above; info below.
What Is The Four Seasons About?
The Four Seasons follows three long-time couples who have built their friendship on decades of shared experiences and weekend getaways. When one of the couples reveals they’re splitting up, the tight-knit group is thrown into emotional chaos. Fey stars as Kate, married to Jack (Forte); Carell plays Nick, whose wife Anne is portrayed by Kenney-Silver; and Domingo and Calvani round out the group as Danny and Claude.
Speaking about the series to Netflix site Tudum, Fey described what she hopes viewers will take away from the show. “I hope audiences feel like they are inside a big sweater with us, and also having a dinner party with us,” Fey said. “And I hope that any of the joy and warmth that we all feel for each other all transfers to them, and that we are a comfort and provide some laughs for them in their home.”

Steve Carell on the Ensemble Cast
Carell praised the writing and the chemistry among the cast, noting how quickly the relationships on screen feel genuine. “It feels lived-in,” Carell told Tudum. “And I attribute that to the writing and the casting of it, too. It feels like these people have existed in each other’s lives for a long time. There’s a code, there’s an unspoken relationship that entwines all of them, and they speak the same language to each other. There’s a shorthand, and it’s funny.”
Who’s Behind The Four Seasons on Netflix?
The Netflix comedy series is created by Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield, a team whose previous collaborations include 30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Girls5Eva. Fey explained the deeper themes the series explores. “Tracey, Lang, and I have talked about the show being a love letter to long-term relationships, both platonic and romantic,” Fey said. “Because your life is ideally more than just the person you’re married to. Sometimes when you are struggling with something with just your spouse, you need a group of friends to bring humor to it. Those friendships really help marriages, I think.”
The series is executive produced by Fey, Fisher, Wigfield, David Miner, Eric Gurian, and Jeff Richmond. Alan Alda and Marissa Bregman also serve as producers.
The Four Seasons Release Date
All eight episodes of The Four Seasons, each running approximately 30 minutes, premieres on Netflix on May 1st.
