A Revenge Story Fueled by Rage
At the centre of The Furious is Wang Wei (Xie Miao), a father pushed past his limits after his daughter is kidnapped by a powerful criminal network. When the police prove useless, tangled in corruption and inaction, Wei takes matters into his own hands.
What follows is a full-throttle descent into vengeance, as Wei tears through anyone standing between him and his daughter. Along the way, he crosses paths with Navin (Joe Taslim), a driven journalist searching for answers after his own wife’s mysterious disappearance. The two form an uneasy alliance, united by loss and a shared determination to dismantle the network responsible.
Serious Action Credentials Behind and In Front of the Camera
There’s a lot here to get action fans paying attention. The film is directed by Kenji Tanigaki, whose work on Enter the Fat Dragon and extensive stunt coordination credits give this a strong foundation in practical, grounded fight design.
Then there’s the cast. Joe Taslim, known for Warrior and Mortal Kombat, joins Xie Miao, Yang Enyou, Brian Le, and Joey Iwanaga in a line-up that already looks built for impact. And with both Taslim and Yayan Ruhian having starred in The Raid, it’s easy to see why early comparisons to that action classic are already starting to surface.
Xie Miao leads the charge as Wang Wei, with producers Bill Kong, Shan Tam, and Frank Hui helping steer the project behind the scenes. The screenplay comes from Mak Tin Shu, Lei Zhilong, Shum Kwan Sin, and Hui.
While it’s still early days, The Furious is already building serious buzz. At the time of writing, the film is sitting at a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, a strong sign that it’s landing with critics as well as action fans.
