‘The Good Wife’ Will End This Season

Fans of CBS series The Good Wife are in for some bad news.

It had been forecast, but now it’s official: The Good Wife is to end at the conclusion of season 7. CBS released a promo during the Super Bowl announcing there are only nine episodes of the series left.

It was recently announced that showrunners Robert and Michelle King would be stepping down from the series after the seventh season, and there was also the matter of cast contracts, including that of star Julianna Margulies, coming to an end.



The Good Wife‘s writers took to their joint Twitter account and confirmed it was always their intention to deliver a narrative that wrapped up after seven seasons.

“Telling the story of the Education of Alicia Florrick is the creative dream of a lifetime. It was always our plan to tell it over 7 seasons,” they posted.

“We wanted the story to have a beginning, middle, and an end — that’s the only way actions can have real consequences — and it’s the reason we had episode titles count up from one word to four, then back down again (it would have been pretty embarrassing if we were cancelled in our fifth season).
