The official teaser trailer has arrived for Prime Video’s upcoming Muhammad Ali series The Greatest. Executive produced by Lonnie Ali, the boxing icon’s widow, and Michael B. Jordan, the series marks the first authorised scripted series about Ali’s life — and the teaser makes it clear this will not simply be a greatest-hits run through the fights. The Greatest Teaser Finds Cassius Clay Talking Himself Into History
Before Muhammad Ali became a global symbol, he was Cassius Clay: brash, fast, funny, fearless, and already fully aware of the power of putting words into the world.

“I’m the fastest. I’m the strongest. I can’t be beat,” Clay declares in the teaser, staring into a mirror as the footage builds around a young fighter who is not just training his body, but shaping the persona that would shake up boxing, politics, culture and everything around him.
There are flashes of the ring, family, crowds, pressure and swagger, but the teaser’s strongest note is internal. This is Clay before the myth fully hardens; a young man testing out the sound of his own destiny and daring everyone else to catch up.
The Series Looks Beyond the Famous Fights
The first season of The Greatest will chart a crucial early stretch in Ali’s life, beginning with his 1960 Olympic gold medal win and moving through to his first heavyweight title victory over Sonny Liston in 1964.
Creator, showrunner and executive producer Ben Watkins (Cross) has made it clear that the series is not being built as a simple march through archival milestones. “It’s a show that’s designed to show you all the stuff that wasn’t in documentaries and isn’t available in terms of watching old fights and old interviews,” Watkins told Deadline.
A Newcomer Enters the Ring
Leading the series is Jaalen Best, a relative newcomer whose credits include appearances in All American: Homecoming and American Horror Stories. It is a major breakout opportunity for the actor, who is playing a figure previously portrayed on screen by Will Smith in Michael Mann’s 2001 biopic Ali, Eli Goree in Regina King’s 2020 Prime Video release One Night in Miami…, and more recently by Dexter Darden in the 2024 Peacock miniseries Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.
At Amazon’s Upfront presentation earlier this year, as quoted by Forbes, Lonnie Ali spoke about the search for the right performer, saying, “We knew from the start that whoever plays Ali has got to be Ali.”
Also during the presentation, Best described the role as “humbling, terrifying, exhilarating, inspiring,” before reflecting on the responsibility of playing Ali. “I gave it everything that I had and I’m proud of the person I became after it. And because of this moment, it’s changed me forever, and I hope that I’ve done everything I needed to do to uphold the legacy of one of the greatest — the greatest — of all time, Muhammad Ali.”
Who’s in The Greatest Cast and Creative Team?
Alongside Best, the cast includes Dana Gourrier as Odessa “Bird” Clay, Amin Joseph as Sonny Liston, Kai Parham as Rudy Clay, Michael Ealy as Malcolm X, and Giovanni Ribisi as Clay’s boxing trainer, Angelo Dundee.
Behind the scenes, the series brings together Watkins’ Blue Monday Productions, Jordan’s Outlier Society, Authentic Studios, Roc Nation, Polygram Entertainment and Grace: A Storytelling Company. Elizabeth Raposo, Corey Salter, Marc Rosen, Matthew Gross, Aiyana White, Jeff Augustin, Owen Shiflett, Michele Anthony, Boyd Muir, David Blackman, Stefano Agosto and Josh Wakely are among the executive producers.
Prime Video announced the teaser and premiere date during a special first-look presentation at ESSENCE Festival of Culture, where Watkins, Best and cast members Dana Gourrier, Amin Joseph, Kai Parham and Michael Ealy appeared to discuss bringing Ali’s story to the screen.
The Greatest Release Date
The Greatest will premiere on Prime Video on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
