The Gunman Trailer: Sean Penn, Javier Bardem & Idris Elba are Tough Guys

Sean Penn, Javier Bardem and Idris Elba in an action-thriller? Yes, please.

The first trailer has dropped for The Gunman, an upcoming thriller from Taken director Pierre Morel. Based on a novel by Jean-Patrick Manchette, The Gunman sees Penn play an international spy who must clear his name in order to save himself from the organization that he used to work for. Bardem plays an old friend in the organisation, one that doesn’t take kindly to Penn’s change of heart.

It’s all quite familiar, yet it’s hard to complain with a cast this damn good. The action looks slick and the story seems serviceable, so here’s hoping for a strong outing that doesn’t rely on cliches to run the clock down.
