The Hateful Eight: Quentin Tarantino Casts Jennifer Jason Leigh as Female Lead



The Hateful Eight has its lead actress.

Quentin Tarantino has cast Jennifer Jason Leigh, best known for her roles in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, ExistenZ and The Machinist, as the female lead in his upcoming western.

According to The Wrap, who broke the news, The Hateful Eight is to tell the story of ‘two bounty hunters, a tough female prisoner and a local sheriff as they wait for a storm to pass with four men who may or may not be attempting to free the prisoner.’ Leigh has been cast as female lead Daisy Domergue, the criminal sentenced to hang for a murder.

The film will be set in Wyoming, after the Civil War.

It hasn’t been made official at this point, but Tim Roth, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Madsen, Kurt Russell, Walton Goggins and Denis Menochet are said to be starring next to Bruce Dern.

Apparently, Hilary Swank, Michelle Williams and Robin Wright were among the big names chasing after the role of Daisy Domergue.

Before we see Leigh take on a highly coveted role in Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight, we’ll be seeing her in the upcoming horror film Amityville: The Awakening.
