The teaser trailer has arrived for The Hawk, Netflix’s upcoming comedy series that puts Will Ferrell back in the sports-comedy arena, this time as a washed-up golf legend chasing one last shot at glory. Watch the trailer above, then read on for what we know.
Will Ferrell Takes a Swing at Golf Comedy
The Hawk stars Ferrell as Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, a once-great golfer whose best days appear to be well behind him. Naturally, Lonnie does not seem particularly interested in accepting that.

Lonnie has one major left to win in order to complete golf’s Grand Slam, but his ex-wife Stacy (Molly Shannon) and his son Lance (Jimmy Tatro), a rising golf star himself, are a little less convinced that a comeback is on the cards. Still, Lonnie believes he is one stroke away from the greatest comeback in golf history, which is exactly the sort of self-delusion that tends to fuel a good Will Ferrell comedy.
The road back to the top will also drag in a messy circle of family, rivals, hangers-on, and obstacles. Lonnie’s entourage includes Lance, Stacy, Lance’s social-media influencer fiancée Natalie (Katelyn Tarver), and his new caddie Sam (Fortune Feimster). Standing in his way are Golden Fisk (Luke Wilson), a rival golfer who has beaten him twice; PGA TOUR board member Anton (Chris Parnell); and Radford (David Hornsby), Stacy’s new partner.
The Creatives Behind The Hawk
This is well and truly Ferrell’s baby; he also created and executive produces the series. The executive producer line-up includes Jessica Elbaum and Alix Taylor for Gloria Sanchez Productions; Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman, and Nena Rodrigue for T-Street; Chris Henchy; Harper Steele; David Gordon Green; and Andrew Guest.
The PGA TOUR is also a partner on the series, which should give the show a bit of real-world golfing texture beneath the inevitable chaos.
When Will The Hawk Be Released on Netflix?
All 10 episodes of The Hawk will land on Netflix on July 16, 2026.
