A new trailer has dropped for The Last Five Years, an upcoming musical that shows that, once again, Anna Kendrick can indeed hold a note.
After Pitch Perfect, its upcoming sequel, and Disney’s Into the Woods, it’s clear to see how much Kendrick loves to sing, and we don’t mind at all.
Based on the Tony Award-winning musical play by Jason Robert Brown, The Last Five Years sees a struggling actress (Kendrick) and her novelist lover (Jeremy Jordan) each illustrate the struggle and deconstruction of their love affair.
Kendrick is almost always good value and the film’s lively tone seems to be infectious, but there’s something about the visuals and settings that look a little dull. Fingers crossed this one’s a winner.
Written and directed by Richard LaGravenese (Freedom Writers, P.S. I Love You, Beautiful Creatures).
