HBO is certainly laying on the marketing for their upcoming series The Leftovers, with each trailer intriguing us even further. Based on the novel of the same name by Tom Perrotta, The Leftovers tells the story of those left behind when 2% of the world’s population suddenly vanishes. Each trailer has placed the show’s emphasis on the drama rather than the sci-fi possibilities, and we’re digging that approach. Of course, we’re going to be wanting some answers eventually, so hopefully Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof doesn’t drag us around for too long without decent payoffs. We’re pretty excited to see what develops here.
Starring Justin Theroux, Liv Tyler, Christopher Eccleston, Amy Brenneman, Carrie Coon, Ann Dowd, and Chris Zylka.
Synopsis for The Leftovers:

The new drama series The Leftovers is the story of the people who didn’t make the cut. Based on the bestselling novel by Tom Perrotta, The Leftovers follows Kevin Garvey, a father of two and the chief of police in a small New York suburb, as he tries to maintain some semblance of normalcy when the notion no longer applies.
The Leftovers premieres on HBO on June 29th at 10pm.
