Take a look at the trailer for The Little Stranger, the next film from Room director Lenny Abrahamson.
Based on the novel by Sarah Waters, The Little Stranger follows country doctor Dr. Faraday (Domhnall Gleeson), who is called to a patient at a house where his mother once worked. He soon begins to find out that there’s more haunting the inhabitants than just a dying way of life.
It looks intriguing, with ominous goings-on and a gloomy design. Abrahamson hasn’t really tackled the supernatural/horror space before, so it’ll be interesting to see how he fares, particularly following the critical darling that was Room. Fingers crossed.
The Little Stranger, also starring Ruth Wilson, Will Poulter, and Charlotte Rampling, will arrive in Australia on August 30 and opens in the US on August 31.
Synopsis for The Little Stranger:
THE LITTLE STRANGER tells the story of Dr. Faraday, the son of a housemaid, who has built a life of quiet respectability as a country doctor. During the long hot summer of 1948, he is called to a patient at Hundreds Hall, where his mother once worked. The Hall has been home to the Ayres family for more than two centuries. But it is now in decline and its inhabitants – mother, son and daughter – are haunted by something more ominous than a dying way of life. When he takes on his new patient, Faraday has no idea how closely, and how disturbingly, the family’s story is about to become entwined with his own.
