Warner Bros. Pictures has dropped a new trailer for The Nice Guys, the upcoming comedic thriller from director Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3).

The film tells of a down-on-his-luck private eye (Ryan Gosling) and an enforcer-for-hire (Russell Crowe) who find themselves working together to solve the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star.

We’re fans of Black’s work, which includes uncredited input crafting the first Predator film and writing credits on Lethal Weapon, The Monster Squad, and The Last Boy Scout, so this one’s on our must-see list. It’s good to see Crowe entering a project that offers him a fun role and Reynolds looks to suit this bumbling private eye perfectly. That first red band trailer arguably offered more fun than this one, but it’s an amiable marketing piece nevertheless.

The Nice Guys, also starring Matt Bomer and Kim Basinger, will hit the U.S. on May 20.

Synopsis for The Nice Guys:

“The Nice Guys” takes place in 1970s Los Angeles, when down-on-his-luck private eye Holland March (Gosling) and hired enforcer Jackson Healy (Crowe) must work together to solve the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star. During their investigation, they uncover a shocking conspiracy that reaches up to the highest circles of power.
