The Night Agent is heading into its last stretch. Netflix has confirmed that the upcoming fourth season of the Gabriel Basso-led action thriller will be the show’s final chapter, with production now underway in Los Angeles.
Peter Sutherland has answered no shortage of dangerous calls across the first three seasons, and now the endgame is officially in motion. The series, created by Shawn Ryan, will wrap up with season 4, bringing Peter’s story towards a planned conclusion after a third season that left him tested, compromised, and surrounded by some very dangerous unfinished business.
Ryan, whose credits include The Shield and S.W.A.T., told Netflix’s Tudum that he has had the ending in mind for some time. “Ever since the initial success of The Night Agent, I’ve been obsessed with eventually delivering a proper and thrilling conclusion to the show and to Peter Sutherland’s journey,” he said.

The Night Agent Season 4 Is Now in Production
The fourth season has begun filming in Los Angeles, with Netflix teasing an action-packed farewell for Peter Sutherland. The new season will also bring a number of fresh faces into the mix, with Titus Welliver, Li Jun Li, Trevante Rhodes, and Elizabeth Lail among the previously announced additions to the cast.
It is not hard to see why Netflix would want to give the show a proper landing. Season 3 debuted in the Global Top 10, while renewed interest also pushed seasons 1 and 2 back onto the list. Across its run so far, the series has spent 27 weeks on Netflix’s Global Top 10 and reached No. 1 in 87 countries.
Ryan also thanked Netflix and Sony Pictures Television for allowing the series to go out on its own terms. “I’m so grateful to Netflix and Sony Pictures Television for partnering with me on The Night Agent and for giving us the space to deliver a definitive final season to our worldwide legion of fans,” he said. “We are hard at work to complete our story and to make our final season one our fans will never forget.”
What Happened at the End of Season 3?

Season 3 pushed Peter into another ugly web of power, money, and government corruption. The central investigation involved stolen Financial Crimes Enforcement Network intelligence, the terrorist organisation L.F.S., intelligence broker Jacob Monroe, and a dark-money network with ties reaching uncomfortably close to the White House.
By the end of the season, the conspiracy had widened considerably. Jacob Monroe was killed on President Hagan’s orders, with Adam making the murder look like a suicide. Meanwhile, Isabel and Jay unlocked a database connecting Walcott Capital, shell companies, communications, and the first family’s scheme. In other words, season 3 did not exactly leave Peter with a tidy desk.
Peter’s final stretch also placed him directly against Adam, who had been acting under the president’s command. After a confrontation in an abandoned bank, Peter managed to convince him to question the orders he had been following. Ryan spoke to Netflix about the character’s turn by saying, “You can be someone who does violent things for the right reasons, but he realizes he’s being asked to do violent, immoral things for the wrong reasons, and that’s the line he won’t cross.”
Peter Sutherland’s Next Mission Has Already Been Set Up
The closing moments of season 3 saw Peter consider stepping away from Night Action, finally entertaining the idea of finding some balance after everything he had been through. Of course, this is The Night Agent, so peace and quiet was never likely to last for long.
The season ended with Mosley hinting at a new partner for Peter, a tease Ryan previously described to Tudum as “meant to be a launching pad for Season 4.” So, while Peter may want a breather, the phone is clearly not done ringing just yet.
