The iconic comedy franchise The Office is getting an Aussie twist! Prime Video has announced the release of the Australian Original version on October 18. This latest adaptation marks the thirteenth iteration of the globally renowned series – and this time with the franchise’s first female lead.
Comedian and actor Felicity Ward (Time Bandits, Wakefield, The Inbetweeners 2) takes on the role of Hannah Howard, the Managing Director of the fictional Flinley Craddick. Prime Video has released a first-look image (above) and a teaser poster (below), both featuring Ward in character.
The plot finds Hannah Howard facing the challenge of keeping her branch together after learning that Head Office plans to shut it down and have everyone work remotely. Her efforts to maintain her “work family” lead to a series of plans that drive the storyline, focusing on the interactions and challenges within the workplace.
The Australian and New Zealand cast also includes Edith Poor (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power), Steen Raskopoulos (The Duchess), Shari Sebbens (The Sapphires), Josh Thomson (Young Rock), and Jonny Brugh (Thor: Love and Thunder), among many others.
Since its debut over 20 years ago, The Office, created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, has been adapted across various countries, including France, India, and Israel. This Australian version continues the tradition of localising the format for new audiences.
All eight episodes of this new version of The Office will be available on October 18, streaming exclusively on Prime Video in 240 countries and territories worldwide, excluding the USA.
