Prime Video has released the official trailer for the Australian version of The Office, set to hit the streaming service globally (outside of the U.S.) on October 18.
This new adaptation introduces comedian Felicity Ward in the lead role as Hannah Howard, managing director of Flinley Craddick, a Sydney-based packaging company, in this latest take on the iconic workplace mockumentary. The plot centres on Hannah Howard’s efforts to keep her team together after head office announces plans to shut down the branch and shift employees to working from home. Faced with this challenge, Hannah resorts to making questionable promises in a bid to save her office, leading to comedic situations as her employees attempt to meet unrealistic targets.
Joining Felicity Ward in the cast are Edith Poor as receptionist and productivity manager Lizzie Moyle, Steen Raskopoulos as sales representative Nick Fletcher, Shari Sebbens as sales representative Greta King, Jonny Brugh as IT head Lloyd Kneath, and Josh Thomson as head of HR Martin Katavake. Additional cast members include Susan Ling Young, Raj Labade, and Zoe Terakes, with guest appearances from actors such as Susie Youssef, Justin Rosniak, and Chris Bunton.
“I’ve never been so excited to play an optimist incompetent trapped in her own delulu,” Ward said in a statement. “Hannah Howard is every bit the disappointment of a boss we’d all hope she’d be.”
Sarah Christie, head of Australian Originals at Amazon MGM Studios, commented, “We are so excited for you to meet Hannah Howard, brought to life by the exceptionally talented Felicity Ward. Office life has changed a lot in the last few years, and we can’t wait to share our very own Aussie spin on a beloved franchise with Prime Video customers around the world.”
The Australian series is the thirteenth version of The Office, which originally debuted 23 years ago with the UK edition created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. The show is co-produced by BBC Studios Australia & New Zealand, Bunya Entertainment, and Amazon MGM Studios. Writers and executive producers Julie De Fina and Jackie van Beek lead the creative team, with Kylie Washington and Sophia Zachariou also serving as executive producers.
The Aussie take on The Office will premiere on October 18, available globally to Prime Video members in 240 countries and territories, excluding the U.S.
