‘The Owners’ Trailer: Maisie Williams Tries to Rob the Wrong Elderly People

RLJE Films

RLJ Entertainment has released the official trailer for The Owners, a tense-looking thriller that finds Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams picking the wrong house to rob.

It’s a ‘home invasion gone wrong’ angle we’ve seen tackled in films like Don’t Breathe and The Collector, where those breaking in are met with the hellish surprise. Here, Williams and buddies target the home of an elderly couple. Believing the home has a cash-filled safe, the young thieves break in when the owners are away. But yeah, those folks return, and it looks like things get pretty rough for these would-be robbers. These senior citizens aren’t exactly about to knit them sweaters and bake them some scones.

Sylvester McCoy, Jake Curran, Ian Kenny, Andrew Ellis and Rita Tushingham also star in the film, the first feature from French director Julius Berg, whose previous credits include Netflix shows The Forest and Omosis.

The Owners gets a U.S. digital, On Demand and limited theatrical release on September 4.

Official synopsis for The Owners:

A group of friends think they found the perfect easy score – an empty house with a safe full of cash. But when the elderly couple that lives there comes home early the tables are suddenly turned. As a deadly game of cat and mouse ensues the would-be thieves are left to fight to save themselves from a nightmare they could never have imagined.
