‘The Path’ Cancelled: Aaron Paul Shares “Sad” Tweet Following Hulu’s Announcement

Hulu has decided to cancel drama series The Path.

Bad news for the show’s fans: the season 3 finale that aired on March 28 is now the series finale. The show comes to an end after 36 episodes.

“While it’s sad that The Path is ending, I’m brimming with gratitude and pride,” the show’s creator, Jessica Goldberg, said in a statement. “It was a gift to be able to tell challenging and emotional stories for three seasons in this very strange and unique world. The caliber of talent and passion everyone who worked on this show brought — from my partners Jason Katims and Michelle Lee, the execs at Hulu, the writers, actors, directors, designers and crew — was something to behold, and for which I’m very thankful. Thanks Hulu and Universal Television for taking a shot on this show, it was a life-changing experience.”

Aaron Paul, Michelle Monaghan and Hugh Dancy starred in the series, which followed a family in a cult movement as they struggled with relationships, faith and power.

The series was met with critical praise when it first arrived, but the buzz lessened as it progressed. It’s hard to tell just how The Path fared with audiences numbers since Hulu, as with Netflix, keeps viewing data firmly under wraps.

Paul took to social media following the announcement, thanking fans for their support of the series during its three years on air. “Can’t thank Hulu enough for making this happen for all of us,” the actor wrote. “What a gift these past three years have been. To everyone who tuned in for these three beautiful season…thank you. We appreciate your love and support. Love and light.”

Paul has a number of feature films on the horizon, including Welcome Home, a home invasion thriller co-starring Emily Ratajkowski; The Burning Woman, a drama-thriller co-starring Christina Hendricks and Sienna Miller; and Android, a sci-fi film co-starring Olga Kurylenko.
