‘The Politician’ Trailer Unveils Ryan Murphy’s Satirical Netflix Series with Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Lange & More

Netflix

Netflix has released the trailer for satirical comedy series The Politician, from renowned series creator Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story, Feud).

Ben Blatt (Pitch Perfect, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk) has what may be a big breakthrough with Payton Hobart, a wealthy Santa Barbara student who’s determined to be President. The path to the White House is bumpy though, and he’ll have to get smart and ruthless to first navigate and dominate the treacherous political landscape of his high school.

Murphy could very well have himself another hit show here. The juicy-looking plot looks both timely and very entertaining, and he’s got himself a cast that includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Lange, Dylan McDermott, Zoey Deutch, and Lucy Boynton, among others. Bring it.

The Politician will be hitting Netflix on September 27.

Official synopsis for The Politician:

Payton Hobart (Ben Platt), a wealthy student from Santa Barbara, California, has known since age seven that he’s going to be President of the United States. But first he’ll have to navigate the most treacherous political landscape of all: Saint Sebastian High School. To get elected Student Body President, secure a spot at Harvard, and stay on his singular path to success, Payton will have to outsmart his ruthless classmates without sacrificing his own morality and carefully crafted image. Full of comedy and sly satire, Ryan Murphy’s The Politician offers a rare glimpse into just what it takes to make a politician.
