We’re just a few months away from the arrival of The Predator, the latest entry in the franchise that kicked off with Arnold Schwarzenegger back in 1987.
A new red band trailer has arrived for the upcoming action-horror film, which comes from Iron Man 3 and The Nice Guys filmmaker Shane Black, who played Hawkins in the original pic and also put in uncredited script work. Boyd Holbrook (Logan, Narcos) and Olivia Munn (The Newsroom, X-Men: Apocalypse) are among the cast members, playing a former Army Ranger and a science teacher who find themselves in over their heads when those lethal hunters return to Earth. As the trailer below reveals, they didn’t arrive alone.
It’s a stronger trailer than that first one, showcasing a bit of a grittier, livelier tone and a fun old-school approach. For now, I’ll be approaching with caution.
The Predator, also starring Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey, and Yvonne Strahovski, will be arriving in Australia on September 13 and opens in the US on September 14.
Official synopsis for The Predator:
From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.
