‘The Punisher’ Season 2 Promo Unveils Premiere Date and Hints at a Frank vs Billy Showdown

Frank Castle is set to bring the pain again.

Netflix has dropped a ‘Date Announcement’ promo for The Punisher season 2, which will bring back Jon Bernthal as anguished, angry-at-the-world, one-man-army Frank Castle, aka The Punisher. The next chapter finds the former marine getting involved in the attempted murder of a young girl (Giorgia Whigham) and drawn into the mystery of the forces chasing her and the information she holds. There’s a new villain in the form of Christian Fundamentalist John Pilgrim (Josh Stewart). And as the promo below shows, also back is Billy Russo (Ben Barnes), who’s a little scarred up after his showdown with Castle in season 1.

The first season proved to be an excellent, brutal, exhausting chapter in Netflix’s Marvel universe. It’s great to have season 2 on the way, considering the axing of Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

The Punisher season 2 hits Netflix on January 18.

Netflix’s official synopsis for The Punisher season 2:

Former marine-turned-vigilante Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) has been living a quiet life on the road until he suddenly becomes embroiled in the attempted murder of a young girl (Giorgia Whigham). As he is drawn into the mystery surrounding her and those in pursuit of the information she holds, Castle attracts a new target on his back as new and old enemies force him to confront whether he should accept his destiny and embrace a life as “The Punisher.”

Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal) serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer. The cast also features Ben Barnes (Billy Russo), Amber Rose Revah (Dinah Madani), Jason R. Moore (Curtis), Josh Stewart (John Pilgrim), and Floriana Lima (Dr. Krista Dumont).
