‘The Rental’ Trailer: Dave Franco Directs Alison Brie & Dan Stevens in Dark Thriller

IFC Films

Take a look at the trailer that’s been released for The Rental, a thriller directed and co-written by Dave Franco.

Alison Brie (Franco’s real-life spouse), Dan Stevens, Jeremy Allen White and Sheila Vand play two couples that rental a beautiful oceanside house for a weekend getaway. They’re in for some sinister turns, with someone seemingly out to get them and dark secrets threatening to tear them apart.

This marks the feature directorial effort for Franco, who has written the script with filmmaker and actor Joe Swanberg (Win it All, Drinking Buddies). The moody trailer does a good job of not unveiling too much (a rarity these days) while teasing the dark twists ahead. Looking forward to checking this out.

The Rental will be hitting limited U.S. cinemas and VOD on July 24.

Official synopsis for The Rental:

Two couples on an oceanside getaway grow suspicious that the host of their seemingly perfect rental house may be spying on them. Before long, what should have been a celebratory weekend trip turns into something far more sinister, as well-kept secrets are exposed and the four old friends come to see each other in a whole new light. Dan Stevens and Alison Brie star in this unnerving and sophisticated debut thriller from Dave Franco (NEIGHBORS, IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK, THE DISASTER ARTIST).
