Take a look at the trailer released for Amazon Studios’ upcoming true-story political thriller-drama The Report, starring Adam Driver, Annette Bening and Jon Hamm, among others.

The film finds Driver playing Daniel J. Jones, the man who led an investigation into the CIA’s post 9/11 Detention and Interrogation Program and discovered a number of shocking secrets regarding the techniques used and the cover-ups the CIA had in place.

This one is is directed and written by Scott Z. Burns, whose screenplay credits include The Bourne Ultimatum, Contagion and upcoming Bond film No Time to Die. Judging from the trailer below, we could be in for a riveting, incendiary watch. The plot is no doubt important and highly troubling, and there’s a fantastic extended cast here that also includes (deep breath) Sarah Goldberg, Michael C. Hall, Douglas Hodge, Fajer Kaisi, Ted Levine, Jennifer Morrison, Tim Blake Nelson, Linda Powell, Matthew Rhys, T. Ryder Smith, Corey Stoll, and Maura Tierney.

Early reviews bode very well for the film, commending Burns for crafting an angry movie without overly preaching its statements at the audience, and also laying down the potentially complicated information very clearly. With this subject matter and this cast, it’s possible The Report may be one to look out for come awards season. Looking forward to it.

The Report will be released in Australia on November 14 and opens in the US on November 15.
