Take a look at the U.S. trailer that’s been released for The Shadow of Violence, a strong-looking crime drama-thriller from Michael Fassbender’s production company, DMC Film.
Set in rural Ireland, the film has Cosmo Jarvis (Peaky Blinders, Lady Macbeth) playing Douglas ‘Arm’ Armstrong, who has become a feared enforcer for the drug-dealing Devers family. The difficulties of trying to be a good father and being torn between two families becomes all the more severe when he is asked to kill for the first time and his loyalties are tested. Consistently-impressive actor Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk, The Killing of a Sacred Deer) plays Arm’s volatile business partner.
“It is a film about how bad relationships dictate the life of the abused and sedate their self-awareness through fear and habit,” first-time feature director Nick Rowland said of the film. “I wanted to explore how a community can misunderstand, or even take advantage of vulnerable people, and show how it’s also possible to turn your back on these abuses.”
Early reviews are quite promising for the film – currently with a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes, as the trailer proudly shows. Looking forward to it. The Shadow of Violence, which is also known as Calm with Horses in some markets, is scheduled to hit limited U.S. cinemas on July 31st.
