David Cronenberg’s The Shrouds arrives in Australian cinemas on July 3 — and to mark the occasion, we’re giving away ten double passes to see the new film on the big screen!

The legendary filmmaker behind The Fly and Eastern Promises returns with what’s being described as his most personal and emotionally charged work to date. The Shrouds stars Vincent Cassel, Diane Kruger, and Guy Pearce in a near-future tale of grief, technology, and unsettling intimacy.

Cassel plays Karsh, a tech entrepreneur who invents a radical new system allowing mourners to watch the physical decomposition of their loved ones via camera-equipped coffins. Still haunted by the death of his wife (Kruger), Karsh begins a strange new relationship with her sister—also played by Kruger—just as his invention is compromised in a mysterious act of vandalism.

With the coffin camera feeds encrypted and the graves desecrated, Karsh dives into an investigation that leads to a much larger and more disturbing conspiracy. Written by Cronenberg after his own personal loss, The Shrouds blends high-concept sci-fi and body horror with themes of mourning, obsession, and the strange ways we connect with the dead.

The Shrouds opens in Australian cinemas on July 3 and will be screening at around 27 key art-house cinemas in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
