Game of Thrones actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (who played Jaime Lannister in the series phenomenon) stars alongside Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders, The Mummy) in the upcoming thriller The Silencing.
The official trailer has arrived for the film, which finds Colster-Waldau playing the father of a missing girl who is caught up in the police investigation of a killer who may be behind his daughter’s disappearance.
This marks the second film from director Robin Front, who previously helmed the dark Belgian crime-drama The Ardennes, moderately received by critics – who nevertheless pointed out that Front was one to look out for. There was a time when investigative procedural narratives where a little more commonplace in cinema – and I miss them. Both Waldau and Wallis are great and this looks like it could pack in some gritty turns; here’s hoping.
The Silencing, also starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin, will open in the U.S. on DirecTV on July 16, and limited cinemas and digital on August 14.
