Michael Fassbender and Rebecca Fergson lead the upcoming thriller The Snowman, based on the bestseller from Headhunters author Jo Nesbø.
The plot tells of an elusive serial killer who leaves clues and taunts those on his trail. Fassbender plays lead detective Harry Hole and Ferguson plays Katrine Bratt, a brilliant recruit who joins the search.
It’s been a while since we’ve had a strong serial killer cat-and-mouse thriller, and this could be just that. We have solid leads, a supporting cast that includes J.K. Simmons and Charlotte Gainsbourg, direction from acclaimed helmer Tomas Alfredson (Let the Right One In, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), and cinematography by Oscar winning Aussie D.O.P. Dion Beebe (Chicago, Collateral, Edge of Tomorrow). And just to add more cred, Martin Scorsese is on the exec producing team.
Fassbender could have a franchise-starter if this one’s a big hit. The character of Harry Hole is featured in 11 of Nesbø’s books. The Snowman is book number seven.
The locales look incredible too, thanks to the film being shot entirely in Norway in the cities of Oslo and Bergen and the area of Rjukan.
