A certain blue superhero is making his way onto the small screen… again.
Amazon Prime Video has a new take on The Tick, the superhero spoof created by cartoonist Ben Edlund in 1986, on the way with Peter Serafinowicz (Spy, John Wick: Chapter 2) in the lead role. The character previously had an animated series in ’94 and Fox’s short-lived (9 episodes) live-action series starring Patrick Warburton (Family Guy, Rules of Engagement), who’s on board as a producer here.
The new series will focusing more on Tick’s sidekick Arthur Everest (Griffin Newman), whose life takes quite the turn when meets the titular superhero. Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen, Little Children) plays villain The Terror.
It’s certainly a goofy, campy looking series, and although the tone seems somewhat awkward in this trailer, it could be fun. The pilot that aired last year earned a decent reception. We’ll see.
According to EW, The Tick will be unfolding on Amazon Prime Video in two blocks: a six-episode part one on August 25 and a six-episode part two in early 2018.
