Henry Cavill plays solitary monster hunter Geralt of Rivia, who finds his path changed when destiny leads him towards a powerful sorceress (Anya Chalotra) and a young princess (Freya Allan) with a dangerous secret.
With HBO coming with His Dark Materials and Amazon developing a Lord of the Rings prequel series, it appears the race is on to see which company will end up with a fantasy show that hits Game of Thrones levels of success. This certainly looks like a big one; one that the many fans of the books and hugely popular games will be eyeing closely. Fingers crossed here!
The show comes from creator Lauren Schmidt, whose lengthy television career includes writing/producing credits on Daredevil, The Umbrella Academy, Power, and The West Wing.
The Witcher still doesn’t have a release date, but the show is expected to hit Netflix towards the end of this year.
