A creepy and intriguing first trailer has arrived for The Woman in the Yard, an upcoming horror film from Blumhouse. Take a look at the trailer above.
The film tells of Ramona (played by Danielle Deadwyler, Till, The Harder They Fall), a grieving mother struggling to care for her two children after a tragic car accident claims her husband’s life. Alone in their rural farmhouse, her fragile reality shatters when a spectral woman (Okwui Okpokwasili, The Exorcist: Believer), shrouded in black, appears on their lawn with an ominous warning: “Today’s the day.” At first, Ramona assumes the figure is lost or unwell, but as the woman edges closer and refuses to leave, her intentions become clear.
This marks a return to horror for director Jaume Collet-Serra, who broke out with House of Wax and Orphan. The busy filmmaker’s credits include The Shallows, Liam Neeson films Unknown, Non-Stop, Run all Night, and The Commuter, Dwayne Johnson films Jungle Cruise and Black Adam, and the recent Netflix thriller Carry-On (one of the streamer’s biggest film hits). The Woman in the Yard‘s screenplay comes from first-time feature writer Sam Stefanak.
