A couple of weeks ago we reported that Lakeshore Entertainment was developing the fifth film in the Underworld action-horror franchise. Well, the film now has its star.
Theo James, recently seen playing Four in this year’s Divergent, has been cast as the lead in the next Underworld film. The actor played a vampire named David in 2012’s Underworld: Awakening, and THR is reporting that he’ll be the central character in the film scripted by Cory Goodman (Priest).
The untitled fifth film won’t be a reboot as previously reported, “but rather an expansion of the existing universe.” THR’s sources have also revealed that James’ character will be supported by two females, but there’s no word as to who will be playing these ladies.
Theo James is certainly gathering everyone’s attention after his turn in Divergent. We’ll be seeing James play a role in London Fields, a crime-thriller starring Johnny Depp, Amber Heard, Billy Bob Thornton and Jim Sturgess; Franny, starring Richard Gere and Dakota Fanning; and Divergent‘s sequel, Insurgent, which hits U.S. cinemas on March 20, 2015.
