‘Tidelands’ Trailer Unveils Netflix’s First Australian Original Series

Check out the first trailer to arrive for Tidelands, Netflix‘s first sole Australian production.

The series tells of a young woman, Cal (Charlotte Best, Home & Away), who returns home to small fishing village Orphelin Bay after spending 10 years in juvenile detention. If she thought it was tough in detention, she has no idea what she’s in for. Try drug smugglers, murder and… sirens. Yep. A fisherman’s body washes ashore, setting off a chain of events as Cal uncovers the town’s relationship with smugglers and the commune of beautiful and dangerous half-Sirens/half-humans, known as Tidelanders, who live in a hidden pocket of the bay.

Fast & Furious franchise actress Elsa Pataky plays the enigmatic and keenly intelligent leader of the Tidelanders,  Aaron Jakubenko (The Shannara Chronicles, Spartacus: War of the Damned) plays Cal’s fisherman brother Augie McTeer, Peter O’Brien (Underbelly, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) is deckhand Bill Sentelle and Mattias Inwood (Will) stars as conflicted Senior Constable Corey Welch.

Watch the first trailer for Tidelands below. The series, shot in Queensland, arrives on Netflix on December 14.
