Disney has placed Tim Burton at the helm of the upcoming live-action remake of Dumbo.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Walt Disney Pictures President of Production Sean Bailey said Burton would direct the picture. He added that the film will be exploring “a big world.”

Disney is obviously hoping to see a repeat performance of Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, one of Disney’s most successful live-action films. The picture earned over $1 billion in worldwide box office receipts.

Ehren Kruger (Transformers) has penned the screenplay for the live-action remake, which THR says “will use a mix of CGI and live action to bring the classic elephant story to life and will add a unique family story that parallels Dumbo’s journey.”

Dumbo is just another of Disney’s upcoming live-action takes. Following Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent, Disney has Cinderella, The Jungle BookAlice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass, and Beauty and the Beast.
