Krang, the disembodied brain set to be a villain in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, could have an unexpectedly deep voice.
It was thought that Saturday Night Live comedian Fred Armisen would voice Krang (even IMDB had him credited as the alien’s voice), but LA Times is reporting that this not the case. Instead, word is that Brad Garret, from Everybody Loves Raymond fame, is attached as the voice of the strange villain. Apparently Armisan could not jump on board due to scheduling issues.
The upcoming film will be offering TMNT fans an array of familiar characters, including Bebop, Rocksteady, Casey Jones, and Shredder. Krang is arguably the most exciting addition to the sequel, considering how bizarre a creation the creature is. A recent TV spot for the film showed off more footage of Krang in action, revealing that he’ll be leaving that exosuit at some point in the film.
Whether Garret’s voice is appropriate remains to be seen/heard. There’s a chance he’ll be changing his voice a little for the character, but going for the baritone voice could provide Krang with an amusing difference.
Here’s a look at scene from the ’90s TMNT cartoon series, featuring Krang and Shredder. The cartoon Krang was voiced by Pat Fraley.
