It appears that Spider-Man star Tom Holland has joined the expanding cast of Christopher Nolan’s next film, which already has Matt Damon on board.
This marks Holland’s first time working with Nolan, while Damon is a familiar face in the director’s roster, having appeared in Interstellar and Oppenheimer. Universal Pictures will distribute the still-untitled film, which is slated for theatrical (IMAX included) release on July 17, 2026.
Although plot details remain tightly under wraps, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the story will not take place in the present day. Nolan wrote the script and is producing the film alongside his wife, Emma Thomas, through their Syncopy banner.
Rumours have, of course, already started circulating about what the film’s genre and plot could be. How about this: VAMPIRES. At least according to Gizmodo‘s sources, we could be looking at a vampire movie set in the 1920s. It’s worth noting that Ryan Coogler also has a 20s-set vamp flick on the way. A film focused on bloodsuckers would certainly be a genre departure for Nolan, who is more known for his high-concept thrillers and mind-bending science fiction films. Universal has not confirmed the rumour, leaving fans to speculate as more details emerge.
As Holland is also tied to other major projects, including the planned next Spider-Man film and Avengers: Doomsday, he is expected to juggle a busy filming schedule over the next year or so. With its release planned for mid-2026, Nolan’s secretive new film is already generating plenty of anticipation, and Holland’s involvement only adds to the excitement. Stay tuned as details on Nolan’s next feature come light!
