The official trailer has arrived for Toy Story 4!
Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz (Tim Allen) and the gang are back, and this time there’s about to be a
fork spork in the road. Bonnie (the little girl our toys were handed to at the tear-jerking ending of Toy Story 3) makes herself a new toy out of a spork: Forky (voiced by Tony Hale), who really isn’t comfortable being classified as a toy and opts to leave in the middle of an existential crisis. Woody gives chase, determined to bring back Bonnie’s favourite new toy.
Even though Toy Story 1 through to 3 made for a fantastic trilogy that didn’t need another chapter, we can’t deny that we’re looking forward to catching up with these wonderful characters. The feels are certainly present in the big new trailer, which reunites certain characters and introduces a variety of others, and hints at a plot with plenty of thematic layers.
Toy Story 4 features a massive voice cast that includes Annie Potts, Jordan Peele, Keegan-Michael Key, Maddie McGraw, Christina Hendricks, Keanu Reeves, Ally Maki, Jay Hernandez, Lori Alan, Joan Cusack, Bonnie Hunt, Kristen Schaal and Emily Davis, among many others. Directed by Josh Cooley, co-writer of Inside Out and writer-director of Inside Out short Riley’s First Date.
Mark the date: Toy Story 4 arrives in Australia on June 20 and hits the US on June 21.
Official synopsis for Toy Story 4:
Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) has always been confident about his place in the world, and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. So when Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky (voice of Tony Hale), declares himself as “trash” and not a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. But when Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family’s road trip excursion, Woody ends up on an unexpected detour that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep (voice of Annie Potts). After years of being on her own, Bo’s adventurous spirit and life on the road belie her delicate porcelain exterior. As Woody and Bo realize they’re worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy, they soon come to find that’s the least of their worries.
