Trailer and Poster for Disney’s Maleficent

It’s fair to say that Angelina Jolie doesn’t look quite like her glamorous self in the teaser trailer and poster for Maleficent, the upcoming live-action Disney film. The film is a re-imagining of the tale of Sleeping Beauty, told from the villain’s point of view. The teaser trailer looks great, with what looks like a pretty dark artistic approach and Jolie teasing a deliciously creepy villainess. Elle Fanning stars as the “beauty”, Princess Aurora.

The film also stars Sharlto Copley, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville.

This is the directorial debut of Robert Stromberg, the two-time Academy Award-winning art director behind Avatar and Alice in Wonderland.

Check out the official synopsis and poster for Disney’s Maleficent underneath the teaser trailer.

Here’s the official synopsis for Maleficent:

From Disney comes “Maleficent”—the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty.” A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well.
