Sony has dropped the first teaser trailer for T2: Trainspotting, Danny Boyle’s long-awaited sequel to his ’96 film.
Ewan McGregor, Ewan Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Carlyle are back reprising their roles in this sequel based on Irvine Welsh’s follow-up novel Porno.
Rather than focusing on the horrifying world that is heroine addiction, T2 finds our gang in the pornography business, although you can be sure they’re going to be finding themselves in highly questionable predicaments yet again. Have Renton, Spud, Sick Boy and Begbie managed to get their lives in order in the slightest? We’ll see, but we’re not banking on it.
Apart from the returning cast, it’s great to have Boyle back at the helm, and working alongside Oscar-winning cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle (Slumdog Millionaire) and editor Jon Harris (Kick-Ass, 127 Hours) no less.
The teaser is just that, announcing the return of the cast and giving us a look at our four leads as a train rolls by. Hell yes.
T2: Trainspotting will open in the U.K. on January 27, 2017. In the U.S. the film will be given a limited release on February 3, 2017 before opening wide on February 10. Australia will be receiving T2 on February 9.
