HBO has unveiled a big new trailer for True Detective season 3, starring Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Luke Cage) in the lead role.
Ali plays Detective Wayne Hays, whose career and overall life is greatly affected by a case involving two missing children in the heart of the Ozarks. As the trailer below shows, we’ll be following Hays in various periods of his life, all connecting to the crime that’s haunted him since he was first assigned.
So far, so good. This trailer and the one before it are promising a moody, textured chapter in the anthology series, boding well for a show that kicked off in outstanding form with season 1 and took a stumble with season 2. Fingers firmly crossed.
The cast also includes Stephen Dorff as Arkansas State Investigator Roland West; Josh Hopkins as a private attorney involved in deposing state police detectives in an ongoing investigation; Carmen Ejogo as a school teacher connected to the two missing children; Mamie Gummer as a young mother of two at the center of a tragic crime; Scoot McNairy as a father who suffers a terrible loss that ties his fate to that of two state police detectives over ten years; Sarah Gadon and Ray Fisher.
True Detective season 3 will begin on HBO on 13 January 2019.
