Sophie Turner is in survival mode in Trust, a psychological thriller that sees her bloodied, bruised, and facing what appears to be a home invasion.
Turner plays a Hollywood starlet, rocked by scandal, who retreats to a remote cabin in search of solitude and peace. But, of course, that’s short-lived. Betrayed by someone close, Turner’s character finds herself stalked and hunted in a deadly game of survival.
More on Screen Realm:
The trailer doesn’t make it fully clear as to what exactly is going down. Is it mostly about a villainous manager who now wants her dead? Do killers turn up to her place to take her out? Does she accidentally trap herself within the property’s walls? Is she going mad? All the above?
“You can hide, but you can’t run,” reads the tagline on the film’s poster below.
Trust is directed by Carlson Young, previously behind Prime Video’s rom-com Upgraded and the surreal genre indie The Blazing World. The screenplay comes from Gigi Levangie, who may be best known for co-writing Stepmom and the mini-series The Starter Wife.
Trust is produced by Miles Koules, Ketura Kestin, and Oren Koules — the latter of Twisted Pictures, the company behind the Saw franchise. The film marks the first title in a multi-picture deal with Republic Pictures, a revived Paramount Global label focused on acquisitions. Turner also serves as an executive producer here.
Trust, with a cast that also includes Rhys Coiro, Billy Campbell, Peter Mensah, Forrest Goodluck, Gianni Paolo, Renata Vaca, and Katey Sagal, opens in select U.S. cinemas on August 22.
