The footage below offers up some fun snippets of what went down on the set of the ambitious film, the latest from filmmaker Luc Besson (The Professional, The Fifth Element, Lucy). Delevingne and DeHaan can be seen joking around in between takes, with Besson often ready for a laugh as well. The footage also offers up a look at the final day of shooting day for Rihanna, who plays a character named Bubble, and the celebrations that unfolded as Delevingne and DeHaan finished their last shot of the film.
Based on the classic graphic novel series Valerian and Laureline, created by writer Pierre Christin and artist Jean-Claude Mézières (who also appears in the video below), the film follows two special operatives in the 28th century sent on an assignment to the city of Alpha, a metropolis where species from all over the universe have converged. Once there, they soon uncover a dark force threatening the entire universe.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, the most expensive movie ever made by a non-U.S. studio, opens in the US on July 21 and arrives in Australia on August 10.
