The first official full-length trailer (following that teaser trailer) unveils plenty of new footage from the film, providing a better understanding of the role Riz Ahmed’s villainous Dr. Carlton Drake has to play. Hardy plays investigative reporter Eddie Brock, who gets up close and personal with what Dr. Drake’s been experimenting with.
Having a solo Venom movie without establishing the character in the current Spider-Man universe (although, could we get a little Symbiote action in Infinity War?) doesn’t ring like a brilliant idea straight away, but we could have something good here. There’s a great cast, including Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate and Woody Harrelson, and the trailer shows off some enticing elements, namely Hardy’s Hardy-isms and the internal/external conflict Brock has with the alien being inhabiting his system. And yeah, Venom looks appropriately terrifying. Take a look at the trailer below and scroll further down to check out the new poster.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer, whose credits include Zombieland, 30 Seconds or Less and Gangster Squad.
Venom, also starring Jenny Slate, Woody Harrelson, Scott Haze and Reid Scott, will arrive in Australia on October 4 and hits US cinemas on October 5.
One of Marvel’s most enigmatic, complex and badass characters comes to the big screen, starring Academy Award® nominated actor Tom Hardy as the lethal protector Venom.
