Fans have long wondered how this would go down, since, you know, FTWD is set much before TWD. Well, now we know that Morgan Jones, played by Lennie James, will be the one crossing over – and perhaps in more ways than one.
Yes, it’s possible that Morgan will be meeting his demise in TWD, although just how – and how horrific – he’ll be killed off is being kept under wraps. Of course, he could always just… leave, walk off into the sunset like a badass, to be seen another day. Then again, in his statement below, EP Scott M. Gimple says that Gimple’s journey will “push the series — and the ‘Waking Dead’ universe itself — into new directions and possibilities,” so… who knows.
AMC has unveiled footage of James’ first day on the set of Fear the Walking Dead.
“I just want to say thank you to all of you. All of the fans that have supported Morgan from the first season, all of you guys who kept asking the question, ‘Where is Morgan and when is he coming back?’ And were happy when he did come back,” James said to fans.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing where we’re going to take Morgan and what’s going to happen to him in the different elements of his story that we can tell.”
James appears at around the 45-second mark in the video below:
“Lennie James’ brilliance and humanity in his portrayal of Morgan Jones has been part of the DNA of what makes The Walking Dead so fantastic since the very beginning,” Scott M. Gimple, executive producer of both Fear and TWD, said in a statement. “Morgan’s story will continue in this season of The Walking Dead, and then, it begins again in the upcoming season of Fear the Walking Dead, pushing the series — and the ‘Waking Dead’ universe itself — into new directions and possibilities.”
“As longtime fans of Lennie James and his portrayal of Morgan Jones, we are thrilled to have him join the cast of Fear the Walking Dead,” Fear showrunners and executive producers Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg added. “We look forward to working with Lennie to continue the journey Morgan began on The Walking Dead.”
