A new look at the next series in the Walking Dead universe has arrived.
Take a look at the teaser trailer that’s been released for The Walking Dead: World Beyond, which will be focusing on the first generation that’s raised in the zombie apocalypse. “Some will become heroes. Some will become villains,” reads the official logline. “In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.”
The cast includes Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Annet Mahendru, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston and Nico Tortorella, and as revealed in the teaser below, Emmy-winning actress Julia Ormond. Ormond plays Elizabeth, whose character is described as “the charismatic leader of a large, sophisticated and formidable force.”
The series is co-created by Scott M. Gimple (who’s been a producer and writer across both TWD and FTWD) and showrunner Matt Negrete (writer and co-exec producer on TWD).
If you’re up to date this point, you’re probably all in with the Walking Dead universe that’s been unfolding over the years. The primary series – which has been pretty bumpy – has had some huge ratings and has seen some big changes (including the departure for lead character Rick Grimes) over its ten seasons. And while Fear the Walking isn’t as popular, it’s certainly got a strong following and isn’t show signs of slowing down; season 6 has been confirmed. Fingers crossed this new chapter, which looks to have a more youthful focus, is a solid expansion.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond will premiere on AMC in the US Spring season.
