Walton Goggins, known for his roles in The Shield, Justified and The Hateful Eight, among other projects, is set to join the cast of the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot.
According to Variety, Goggins has entered final negotiations with Warner Bros, MGM and GK Films to play the villain in Tomb Raider, which will star Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander in the title role.
No further plot details are known regarding who exactly Goggins will play, but it is known that the film will serve as an origin story for Lara Croft, the classic video game character Angelina Jolie previously took to the screen in two films.
Norwegian helmer Roar Uthaug (The Wave) will be directing from a screenplay by up-and-coming scribe Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who’s also attached to Warner Bros’ Dungeons & Dragons reboot and Robert Downey Jr’s Sherlock Holmes 3.
Up next for Goggins is season 2 of the HBO comedy series Vice Principals and a role in Six, the upcoming History Channel series following Navy SEAL Team Six on a mission to eliminate a Taliban leader in the midst of discovering an American citizen is working with the enemy.
