A big new trailer has dropped for War Dogs, the upcoming true-story drama-comedy starring Jonah Hill and Miles Teller.
The Hangover director Todd Phillips veers slightly away from over-the-top comedy with this over-the-top true story, which tells of two friends in their early 20s that became big-time arms dealers when they landed a 300 million dollar deal to provide the Afghan Military with weapons.
There’s an assured tone on display here, a high-energy trailer giving us a look at what could very well be a winner from Phillips. The story is so crazy that it’s true, and it should provide Teller and Hill with plenty to chew on. We’ve got our fingers crossed for this one.
War Dogs, also starring Bradley Cooper and Ana de Armas, hits Australian cinemas on August 18 and the U.S. on August 19.
Synopsis for War Dogs:
Based on a true story, WAR DOGS follows two friends in their early 20s (Hill and Teller) living in Miami during the first Iraq War who exploit a little-known government initiative that allows small businesses to bid on U.S. Military contracts. Starting small, they begin raking in big money and are living the high life. But the pair gets in over their heads when they land a 300 million dollar deal to arm the Afghan Military—a deal that puts them in business with some very shady people, not the least of which turns out to be the U.S. Government.
