Watch: Alfonso Cuarón, Spike Lee, Bradley Cooper & More in Directors Roundtable Discussion

The Hollywood Reporter

The Hollywood Reporter has released the complete video of their most recent Directors Roundtable discussion.

In what has shaped up to be a must watch for movie lovers every year, this year’s ‘Close Up’ with directors features some of the most acclaimed filmmakers of the moment. Reporter Stephen Galloway conducts the roundtable this year with Alfonso Cuarón (Roma), Spike Lee (BlackKklansman), Bradley Cooper (A Star is Born), Ryan Coogler (Black Panther), Marielle Heller (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) and Yorgos Lanthimos (The Favourite).

Among the topics of discussion this year: what constitutes a film being “political” in nature, the differences between directing smaller “indie” films compared with big studio films, the benefits of film school, what director they would love to have a sit down with, whether they also consider themselves to be writers, and a lot more. There’s some great insight on offer here for not only fans of these individual directors and their respective films of the past year, but for those interested in filmmaking overall. Enjoy.
