Just because a film hasn’t finished filming, doesn’t mean the promos can’t start doing the rounds. And when you’ve got these two stars on board, you’d be silly not to start up that buzz asap.
Dwayne ‘I’m in everything, so get used to it’ Johnson and Emily Blunt are co-starring in the next Disney adventure film based on a ride, Jungle Cruise. The blockbuster-churning studio would be no doubt hoping to repeat their Pirates of the Caribbean ride-to-movie success with this new live-action pic, and they’ve certainly got the right leads to charm up the crowds.
Check out the production start video released for the film, with Johnson and Blunt showcasing what looks like some nice chemistry. Blunt is attempting to introduce the production, until she’s amusingly interrupted by Johnson. Shockingly, Johnson gets his butt pinched… or at least he pretends to.
This family-friendly adventure marks a change of pace for director Jaume Collet-Serra, whose credits include Liam Neeson thrillers Unknown, Non-Stop, Run All Night and The Commuter, as well as horror film Orphan and shark thriller The Shallows. The screenplay comes from Michael Green (who earned an Oscar nomination for co-writing Logan) and Bad Santa and Focus scribes Glenn Ficarra & John Requa.
Blunt has two big Disney films coming up. Apart from Jungle Cruise, the actress is also taking on the title role in the sequel Mary Poppins Returns.
Jungle Cruise, also starring Édgar Ramírez, Jesse Plemons, Paul Giamatti and Jack Whitehall, will be hitting US cinemas on 19 October 2019.
