Update: Director Christopher McQuarrie has shed plenty of light on the incident. HERE.
It’s no secret that Tom Cruise loves to do as many of his own stunts as possible.
From hanging off the side of a plane during take off, to being thrown around in zero gravity, to speeding through Morocco streets, to flying over motorcycle handlebars, it appears there is not too much that Cruise isn’t willing to try himself in order to deliver audiences more of a spectacle.
M:I 6 – Mission Impossible is obviously no different, with Cruise set for more of his usual running and jumping. Unfortunately though, a bit of a painful-looking fail has been caught on camera.
The scene finds Cruise jumping from one building to another – harnessed, of course. It appears that either the rigging wasn’t quite right or it’s simply too far of a jump to make, as the actor falls short of his target and slams into the side of the building. Take a look below.
Ouch.
The sixth chapter in the Mission: Impossible franchise will also star Henry Cavill, Rebecca Ferguson, Angela Bassett, Simon Pegg, Alec Baldwin, Michelle Monaghan and Ving Rhames, and will bring back Rogue Nation director Christopher McQuarrie. The film is scheduled for U.S. release on July 27, 2018.
